Ok this is probably where I lose some people. A.) Because there's a lot of Damian haters out there.. and B.) Because what I propose in this particular piece is a little outlandish. Namely, Talia being pregnant AND her baby somehow miraculously surviving.
But Little D is a personal favorite of mine, and I also like to entertain the idea that once the credits rolled on TDKR, the audience can continue the story no matter what. And the potential that Damian poses in the Nolanverse was just too juicy of a subject to not explore.
Some notes:
- At first I regretted that Bruce isn't represented in the piece. But then I found the fact of his absence kind of fitting. If Damian was going to break free from his programming, he'd be doing it either on his own or with the help of John Blake Batman. Plus, it makes this piece a kind of polar opposite of the Huntress piece, who is very much a product of being Bruce's daughter - Purposely kept Talia's possible survival kind of vague. For people that hope for it, then she probably did. For people that don't buy it, then fine. - Die-hards will probably recognize the remaining members of the League of Shadows - Shiva is again being played by the wifey - The sword Damian is carrying is a Philippine blade called the Kampilan. It looks crazy, but it's very real. - Oh, and for those who are bigger fans of Jason and Tim, don't worry, I have plans for them, too. (Later)
More coming. Stay tuned.
Also if this is the first time seeing this, the first two character one-sheets with Huntress & JGL Batman are here: [link] [link]
So who are the other's in the picture of Damien's training? It looks like Bronze Tiger, Lady Shiva, but I'm not sure who the bowman is supposed to be nor can I find the fourth. I love these, by the way.
Can't wait to see what you may do for Jason. He's my favorite character in DC comics and... -whispers- to be honest, I'd like to see more fanart about him and Helena, but hey...
Anyways, yeah, I'm liking these things! Keep up the great job mate, you're absolutely awesome.
To me, Damian Wayne is the more interesting Robin. Recent stories about his relationship with his father are so strong and fascinating, sometimes funny. I really like the way you summed up Damian's past, and the way you dressed him as an assassin. Very beautiful panel.
You are Genius with this stuff! Seriously it's lose and yet totally fits in with the more down-to-earth approach Nolan takes, while tying all the original characters together.
Is this a real character from the comics? Hmm. I never knew. I know you are working within a certain story line and have to make some things fit. But when Bruce takes the bomb away, Selina and Gordon are still there RIGHT by the truck, and Talia was certainly in no condition to be sneaking away... My first thought that was maybe some of her left over men got her out of there quickly and quietly while Selina and Gordon were watching the bomb detonate perhaps. But then I thought back to the League of Shadows, "deception and theatricality", perhaps Talia was pretending to be more injured than she actually was and though, I still doubt it would have been as quick as if she had help, she could have gotten away from the truck, again while Selina and Gordon were talking to Bruce, then watching him fly away with the bomb, and then ultimately watching the bomb go off. So few people knew her involvement in everything I'm sure an injured woman could have gotten off of the island quickly once everything was up and running again. Just keeping a low profile, because most certainly Gordon would have spread the news about her ("the woman known as Miranda Tate") was really behind everything. But maybe the National Guard or other army people didn't know, and she could have changed her appearance. I am really enjoying these little comics of yours, they get me thinking. Especially this one, with all the possibilities. Oh, and I loved at the end that Blake tried to help him instead of condemn him, though I think that Blake would never do that to a child. Definitely search him for weapons, poisons, and other sharp objects, but I think that he would for sure try to help him... Now I'm off to read more!
