The Dark Knight Trilogy Epilogue: Poison Ivy by kinjamin The Dark Knight Trilogy Epilogue: Poison Ivy by kinjamin
This just might be my favorite TDK Epilogue piece. Somehow, everything came together really easily and it got done faster than I thought it would. Plus, I really like the concept I came up with for her. Her and Harley are like the Thelma and Louise of Gotham (I would lose my mind if they were paired up as the villains in a future Batman movie)

Some notes:

- Wanted to avoid her having super magical plant powers. But still wanted to maintain that she's obssessed with botany. Also wanted to keep her look very flora-themed. There's the fungal infection symptoms, of course, that explain the green areas of her skin and the vine-like raises all over her body. The green dress is the same one she was captured in (from panel 1) - but it's tattered in a way where it looks leafy.
- Her kissing of victims is pretty much a Poison Ivy staple.. thus the 'infect-by-saliva' method of her killings.
- I was in debate on the tattoo because I thought it would take away from the vine-y skin. However, I really wanted to give her some Japanese floral tats. I kept it in another layer in case I wanted to get rid of it.. but discovered it gave her a nice dynamic aesthetically. After awhile, it became a must-keep. It also balances out her colors, since the flower is the color of her hair.
- I really wanted Harley to be featured too. Always felt they look great together and I love how their colors clash. It almost makes me regret not getting this piece done in time for Christmas because of the red/green theme going on.
- People may notice a special guest-star in the shadows. There's actually a specific purpose for her being there... which will be explained later in another comic strip I had in mind. I also like the idea that the 'Gotham City Sirens' happened at some point in the movie continuity.
- Try to add as many factors from her original appearance as possible. In Batman 181, Ivy wore green tights on her legs. So I made the fungal infection more spread on her legs so green is more prevalent there.
- It was hard to indicate, but in panel 1, she's wearing a lot of make-up on her body to hide the green blotches skin vines.

Cool work! Is that a nipple I see you've drawn under her dress though?

bit confused regarding the timeline of this, seeing as how Harley doesn't come into existence until after TDKR yet she's here with Poison Ivy after the events in TDK

the first panel happens after TDK (I wrote 'after the death of H.Dent').. then in the second panel I wrote 'a decade later' indicating it happens after TDKR.

Harley in costume with Ivy in the foreground happens after that.

oh actually my fault.. the second panel happens DURING TDKR (during the occupation of Gotham)…

Harley in costume happens years after that (which is why she's only a psychiatrist in the 2nd panel)

I was going to post this on your panel about the Joker, but my comment is centered on Poison Ivy, so I'm posting it here, instead.

I've actually thought about doing a very similar thing, here, as well, because I always hated that Batman just sort of completely disappears after Dent died, and so wanted to sort of fill in the intervening eight years... except for two problems:
a) I can't draw
b) I can't write

So anyways...

I love what you did, here, but I
always imagined Nolan doing Poison Ivy something like a "Black Widow"
of sorts, accept as a fanatic environmentalist. She would be called "Poison Ivy" only by the press and the GCPD because she'd use different and inventive types of poison to kill her victims, and leave a stem of poison ivy with the leaves still attached at her crime scenes.

thought it'd be interesting if, before her capture, she's referred to
as a "he" by the news and by the GCPD, due to a bit of latent/unexposed
sexism that no woman could be this heinous, but Batman knows better.

Isley could also be a brilliant Chemist, which is how she's able to
dream up so many inventive poisons, as well as a world-renowned Botanist. Would be interesting if, before
Bruce figures out who she is, they start dating (she seduces him
assuming, since he's so wealthy and such, that he's another "plant
killer"), and at first she intends to make him another victim, but then
discovers that he's actually an environmentalist as well (if I had the ability to do comics, I kind of imagine drawing/writing a scene in which Pamela's about to kill Bruce, but then they have a discussion about environmentalism, and she has to undo everything because she thinks she has a potential ally who can understand her), so she tries
to convert him over to her way of thinking, unwittingly leading him to
discovering her identity as Poison Ivy (while she's never able to figure
out who Batman is, and so doesn't realize that it's her fault that Batman figured out who she was; and even after he knows, Bruce continues to date her
only so as to keep her from being suspicious, until he, as Batman, leads to her arrest).

I'd lose the "kills with a kiss" thing (specifically that she has poison flowing through her veins) only to keep Nolan's "realism" intact... seduction remains, of course, and she still kills with poison, only via more conventional methods, like mixing it into drinks and food and such, although I don't think it'd be much of a stretch for her to have created a specific poison that she builds up an immunity to so that she can wear it as lipstick, thus keeping the "kills with a kiss" intact after all. I would have definitely had plant-themed tattoos on her, and kept her as a redhead, though.

My problem is
trying to decide how the story (and all my "Nolan's versions of Batman villains) would best be told: like you did here, as
it happens in real time, or via Pamela herself telling the story after
being captured...

I've also thought about how Nolan might have
imagined other iconic Batman villains, such as Penguin (perhaps he's a
Moriarty type who happens to like the nick-name because penguins are his
favorite animal, but not because of the way he looks or anything like
that), and even Killer Croc (perhaps a man who keeps crocodiles as pets and uses them to do his dirty work? Perhaps he could be one of Penguin's stooges). I'm having the most trouble with Clayface and Mister Freeze. While I like your take on Mister Freeze a lot, I really want to stick with Nolan's "realism", and I'm starting to think that Mister Freeze and Clayface may not fit at all...

I think with a bit of tweaking both clay face and mr fries work In the Nolan universe, first off we would have to take away the supernatural element of shapeshifting from clayface and make him an aesthetic/vocal impressionist who is able to costume and make up himself  as several people, & Mr fries is obviously a scientist who is caught in the middle of a war between cobble pot and black mask thus black mask kidnaps his wife and he works for cobble pot (weapons dealer) and creates several weapons for cobblepot but later  realizes cobblepot is just using him and has no real intention to help him, fries primary weapon is a oxygen like tank dispenser that releases liquid nitrogen, cobblepot realizing Fries could hinder his plans has him locked up (like in Arkham city).

Woah!! Great!

Hey man this might sound odd but it would be nice if you have her some slim glasses to allude to her days as a botanic doctor or scientist or whateve and maybe some multiple bracelets with a flower in her hair of some sort like how this guy made Ariel from the little mermaid "… ". since you didn't like Jessica beals realistic Nolan hipsterized Ivy
